Opal's Common Piglinic

Remember the fundamentals!

Tone

Like many languages in the Overworld, Piglins utilize tone to differentiate words of otherwise identical syllables. As mentioned in the vowels section, not only do these changes in pitch apply to vowels, but to select consonants as well.

Tonemes

Name Symbol Orthog. Piglinic Ex.
Drop (0) ˥˩ ah oh (3rd person animate plural)
Low (1) ˩ à nhàn (be dark)
Mid (2) ˧ a nhan (to sleep)
High (3) ˦ ā nhān (passion of community, life)
Low-Medium (4) ˨˧ á yú (friend)
Low-High (5) ˨˥ â bâ (to hear)

With regards to phonotactics, only two rules apply: that closed syllables can only take level tones, and that rising diphthongs and tripthongs can only take contour tones.
