Welcome!
Opal's Common Piglinic (also known by the endonym "Ōin") is a constructed language fan-project meant to bring linguistic life to the porcine inhabitants of (base) Minecraft's Nether!
This is only my rendition of what a Piglin language could be like, inspired by existing sound clips, real-life anatomy, and semantic implications of their in-game lifestyle. Don't take me as the be-all-end-all authority of Piglin language--- just as someone who wants to present their own take for others to use.
Features include:
- "Honk" inclusive anthro-porcine phonology with a 6-tone system that applies to nasals, rhotics, and ingressives
- Tense system and lexical semantics based on relative, "day"-less timekeeping
- Verbal evidentiality with hearsay, firsthand, and firsthand olfactory distinction
- Binary animacy system based on sentience, luminosity, shininess, edibility, and olfactory qualities
- Split-ergativity case system based on animacy system within VSO word order
- Dynamic-stative semantic verb/adjective categories with fun syntactical implications
- And interesting kinship and temperature terms, among other things!
New sections of the grammar will be uploaded each week. So whether you're a first-time Nether traveler or a seasoned trader, feel free to browse what's currently transferred and learn something new. Mùai hh-hg!
